The Great History of OoM

"The Geocities Days, 2000."In late 2000, from the eternal fires of Geocities, came 'Fubars Rm2k Site.' Created using Geocitie's own site editor, basic HTML pasted from various help sites, and of course, MS Paint.
Sadly, the original geocities website didn't stand the test of time and over the years has long since vanished. Over on the left is a represtentation of what we recall the website looking like long, long ago.
Fubar Geocities - The Goal
The website provided RPG Maker 2000 resources, albeit delivered as a single ZIP file. The Fubars' thirst for RPG Making was first inspired by 'Happyapathy' [long since gone], but the 'RPG Town' also had a big role to play.
The secondary purpose of 'Fubars Rm2k' was to provide a web-based presence for the Legend of Mir II clan; The Fubars. Who were known well on the Phoenix server around the time of launch for having several high level and well-geared characters. They were also heavily woven with the Apocolypse Guild and many other people on the server, Random and GOURANGA to name but two.
"The Fubar Days, 2000-2001."Although the Fubars were originally formed on a newly launched and underpopulated 'Runescape', not much documentation stands relating to events before the year 2000. The Fubars had many online adventures, including Graal, Diablo and Ogre Islands, but their triumphs in Legend of Mir II remains the key to their legacy.
"Clan Fubar Roster."The mighty Mir 2 clan, Fubar.
SimFubar
Warrior class. The leader, highest level and weilder of one of the only Dragon Slayer Swords in the game at the time.
SedgieFubar
Taoist Class. Healer and personal mascot of the Fubars. Sedgie weilded a SoulSpringWand, by far the rarest weapon available to taoists at the time. The wand was dropped by a guild during a run into Zuma Temple, and found by a passing Sedgie before the owners could return. [Sedgie was blacklisted by many players and guilds as a result]
LueyFubar
Wizard Class. Not happy with the set Wizard armor, Luey opted for the Taoist battlegear to confuse his enemies as well as being dashing in appearance. Luey weilded a heavily refined Bloodsword which was often used to lash at Sim during runs. He also wore a HealingRing which allowed him to act as a secondary Taoist to the Apocolypse guild during their many dungeon crawls.
"The .com Days, 2001."During summer 2001, the clan launched their first ever .com website dedicated to Mir 2, Reviews, Rm2k resources (this time individually displayed) and of all things, humorous pictures. The websites prized feature was the message board. Through personal contacts the Fubars had managed to get hold of an Acmlmboard, which at the time was reserved for close friends of the lead developer and their trusted associates.
It was the message boards which attracted Zalbag, an excitable male Irish student living in America who would later striptease over webcam for the community.
"The Angelic Oath Days, 2001-2004."During the .com days, LueyFubar (Later known as Skrolk, Geddon, then Coffee Squid) and Notorious JC (Later known as PixelKiwi) agreed to work together to produce Angelic Oath, a violent 2D RPG set in the dark fantasy world of Morior and produced in RPG Maker 2000.
Notorious JC had previously been working on his own game in Rm2k which was mainly an outlet for his early spriting and animation talents. However he was struggling for storyline inspiration, much like LueyFubar was failing tremendously at drawing his own characters. The team was an instant win.
"Angelic Oath, Death and Rebirth."The game soon became the staple of the 'Fubar Gaming' website and as word spread through the online communities, a fanbase quickly grew. Sadly, over the years, constant remaking took its toll and around late-2005 the game was officially cancelled.
In mid-2007 development of Angelic Oath was re-announced, you can view the official website, here.
"Members of Note."Various members are worth a mention.
Chickensoupcheese
CSC was first introduced to the community when a lead Fubar stumbled accross his personal website whilst pressing the "Random Site" button on an site ring. [Truly a freak accident] The two discussed Rm2k, RPG Town and Aerosmith for many weeks. Eventually Chickenshoupcheese was asked to join, and worked his way up to Administrator. CSC is well-known for his witty banter, his ability to fill an MSN message window in seconds, his wild musical tastes and excellent MS Paint doodles.Zalbag
The only male OoM member known to appear wearing a bra on live webcam. Zalbag is particulary fond of Final Fantasy Tactics and Flogging Molly.
Kyrne
Formerly SimFubar, Kyrne is noteworthy for his silent lurking of the forums and computer hardware knowhow.
PixelKiwi
Graphics frontman for Out of Mana, lead artist of Neon Relapse and pixel artist for Angelic Oath. Kiwi is known throughout the internet for his graphic and pixel skills. PixelKiwi, formerly known as Notorious JC, changed his identity following frequent enquiries into whether or not he liked Rap music. He does not.
Camron Ultimate
WoW Guru and pixel pioneer of the early Rm2k scene.
"Important Events."The OoM historical timeline, dates possibly not accurate.
The Mir 'Easter' event - 2004
Easter of 2004, WEMADE launched a rather controversial ingame event in which 'critters' around the world had a very small chance of dropping the best items in the game. [Comparable to a Thunderfury dropping from a squirrel in WoW] This is where the Fubars attained a vast percentage of their ingame wealth and power. It's widely believed that Mir 2 was heavily damaged by this event.
Zalbag stripteases - 2006
December 2006. No futher data.
Launch of OoM - May 2007
Out of Mana is launched.
